Day 4/30 - *Increasing in Joy to Bring Moshiach*

How can we gather together and rejoice when there is so much pain and suffering in the world? How can we celebrate “as usual”, when there are so many who cannot celebrate as usual this year?

But the truth is the exact opposite! It is especially in the darkest moments that we need to increase in joy and unity more than ever before!

There is a story of the son of the Mitteler Rebbe who fell off his horse in the middle of participating in the performance of the M”Rs “Kapelia”. As doctors rushed to try to help him regain consciousness, the M”R requested that the Kapelia continue their joyous singing, music, and horse-riding, and with even more vigour than before!

When the Mittler Rebbe was questioned about his shocking reaction, he asked why they didn't ask him another question first, about why he had requested that the Kapelia perform today to begin with, if it wasn’t any kind of holiday or special day?

The Mitteler Rebbe explained that he had seen that there was a terrible decree in Heaven that his son was meant to Gd forbid pass away on that day, and so he tried to prevent this by increasing in joy, which has the power to break all barriers, and nullify all negativity!

When he saw that his son still fell off his horse, he understood that the joy was not strong enough, and so he requested that they quickly intensify it!

And thank G-d, his son did indeed have a complete recovery!

If this is true about joy on every day throughout the year, how much more so does it apply to Purim, when it is a mitzvah to rejoice in a way that is completely above logic!

And although today is already the day after Purim, the Rebbe said that the meaning of “The days of Purim will never expire” means that (not only will we continue to celebrate Purim after Moshiach comes, but also that even now), the joy of Purim must never end - it must continue after Purim as well, throughout the entire month of Adar and beyond!

And if our joy always has the power to break barriers, its power is multiplied when we bring maximum joy to OTHERS  - to our families, and to everyone else we come in contact with, because then we are combining the 2 superpowers of love and joy together - which is sure to lead to the ultimate joy of the Geulah, by Hashem mirroring us and showing US the extent of His intense love, and by Him making US the happiest ever!

And if our joy until now didn’t have the desired effect of bringing about the Geulah, it doesn’t mean that we should give up chv!

It only means that we need to intensify our joy even more, as in the story of the Mitteler Rebbe, and we will surely see how we merit our salvation!

We see this is the Hebrew word for happiness - שמח, which shares the exact same letters as Moshiach - משיח! The only thing it’s missing is the Yud - to rejoice with ALL of our 10 soul powers, and then we reach the full revelation of Moshiach!

As we say in the Shir Hamaalos before bentching - that in the future, when Hashem will fill our mouths with laughter and perform the greatest miracles for us, the nations of the world will ask, “Why do the Jews deserve all this greatness?,” to which we will answer, “היינו שמחים” - “Because we were happy - even back in Golus, when we didn’t have any reason to be!”

May Moshiach come right now - so that we will all be able to celebrate the rest of THIS Shushan Purim together in Yerushalayim Habenuya!
